A collaboration research project currently undertaking by Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM) and research team from Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. This research is aimed at developing a framework for Malaysian Facilities Management focusing on four (4) areas, namely: (1) Performance Measurement, (2) Procurement Strategy, (3) Human Capacity Building and (4) Leveraging ICT in Facilities Management.

Plenary Session Workshop Asset and Facilities in PPP Project @ 10th Dec 2012
a) Categorisation of soft and hard FM should be well defined and deliberated further in the next workshop
b) Level of Service (LoS) should involve right from design stage
c) Another service for consideration i.e Energy efficiency and Green Building
d) Benchmarking tool for ASL and KPI
At the end of the session, the workshop has came out with four themes for immediate research to be undertaken in collaboration with UKAS, govt agencies and FM practitioners. The willingness to share information, data on FM related are paramount. Themes reflected to the urgency and critical problems need to be addressed in PPP in Malaysia. Researchers could think to ponder in terms of detailing and scoping with regard to this topic.

c) Risk management in PFI projects

Thereby, researcher interested to do FM in PFI can think further on these.

Workshop Asset Management and Facilities for PPP
Today 19th Dec 2012, Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta UKAS JPM is organising the workshop to discuss the direction of asset and facilities including value managament. The definition of hard and soft FM should be clearly defined. The issue of pricing,level of service, benchmarking need to be tackled out by the government.
