Objective 3; Workshop Discussion (30th May 2012)


Objective 3; To determine the level of maturity the ICT utilization in FM in organisation

Note: Maturity Level: 
-       Integrated (Level 5)
-       Strategic (Level 4)
-       Planned (Level 3)
-       Responsive (Level 2)
-       Occasional (Level 1)
-       Not User (Level 0)

Group A;

Generally, in Malaysia the level of maturity of ICT utilization in FM in organizations is seen to be at only a Responsive Level, wherein the facilities manager uses ICT mainly dictated by others to produce documents to help in managing properties in the business portfolio. The FM managers are mainly still resorting to traditional methods if not required to use ICT.

Group B;

At level 2

Group C;

Most of the well-established AM FM companies in Malaysia is using strategic management, management and engineering services (Level 4 and 5) . However most of buildings are using lower than that (Level 3 and below).
 

Group D;

¢Strategic (Level 4) for FM industry
¢Current users are on performance based
¢At the moment it is not at integrated level , which does not integrated drawings from construction level.
 
Group E;
 
To determine is actually depends on level of organisation either government

Level 2.5
a)    Most of the companies reluctant to invest on ICT
b)    No local system are affordable in the local market
c)    Still comfortable using common system like MS Office (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
d)    However in terms of readiness, Malaysian people is ready as many graduate from ICT background from local university, however lack of opportunity in industry
